Intellectual Property

A company’s intellectual property represents one of its most valuable assets and in this area of practice, Jáuregui and Del Valle’s Intellectual Property team is among the leaders in Mexico. Our practice has four main focus areas.

First, one thing that makes us a complete Firm on Intellectual Property is that we not only offer advice on traditional trademark, patent and copyright registration, conservation and litigation, we are also highly specialized in helping international companies fight counterfeiting and piracy in all industry sectors. This is a complex area and for many years we have proudly offered clients advice on how to protect their Intellectual Property Rights against infringers and counterfeiters.

The Firm is also well-recognized for its strengths in trademark registration and preservation, as well as in copyright registration and follow-up in Mexico and the rest of the world. Our strategic advice ensures that customers can implement deep but profitable solutions.

Copyright is another area we specialize in. Jauregui y Del Valle handles the portfolios of many copyright holders, conducts license searches in Mexico and abroad for authorship work and related rights, along with document presentation, follow-up and maintenance. It also has a team of proactive copyright attorneys dedicated to copyright defense, negotiations, infringements and complex litigation.

Finally, the litigation team focuses on highly complex cases, such as intellectual property infringement claims before administrative, civil and criminal courts on trademark, copyright, plant variety and patent related issues. Our team’s experience on intellectual property litigation is complemented with market-leading information technology expertise and has been trusted to resolve intellectual property claims and criminal actions against internet sites and social media profiles. This includes more than 20 cases involving the recovery of over 45 domain names due to proceedings filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for cybersquatting activities, among other cases with Mexican digital intellectual property authorities.
