- Processing of distinctive trademarks before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI). Follow-up to applications for registration, response to registration requests, oppositions, response to refusals, renewals, declarations of use, requests for administrative declaration of nullity, and unfair competition. Ms. Aceves Villalba is an Intellectual Property (IP) specialist, she has more than 18 years of experience in this field, mainly before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, and before other instances, such as the Federal Court for Administrative Justice.
Her work practice is extensive and she has vast experience in all areas of Intellectual Property, including trademarks, copyright, and unfair competition. She has participated in international training on Intellectual Property, as well as in negotiations on international issues on this matter. Her experience and knowledge allow her to design legal protection strategies with a multidisciplinary approach, and to provide specialized consulting on the protection and defense of the Intellectual Property rights, providing comprehensive assistance during this process.
Head of International Negotiations within the Negotiations and International Legislation Sub-Division of the International Affairs Division of the IMPI, covering assistance and participation in the rounds of negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) in its chapter on Intellectual Property; coordination, analysis and follow-up of Intellectual Property issues in the negotiations of the Free Trade Agreements between Mexico, Panama, Turkey and Jordan, as well as for the Expansion and Deepening of the Economic Complementation Agreement Number 53 between Mexico and Brazil, the Expansion and Deepening of the Economic Complementation Agreement Number 6 between Mexico and Argentina, and for the modernization of the Free Trade Agreements with the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA, made up of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein); analysis and monitoring of the Intellectual Property Chapter in the negotiations of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP); analysis and monitoring of the process of Modernization of the North American Free Trade Agreement (USMCA); coordination, analysis and follow-up on cooperation issues with different Industrial Property offices around the world, including the Pacific Alliance Technical Intellectual Property Group, for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH); analysis, study and attention to queries on various topics of Intellectual Property at the national and international level such as trademarks, appellations of origin, geographical indications, Copyright, enforcement, Internet service providers and patents; attendance and participation in different sessions of the Program and Budget Committee (PBC) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva, Switzerland; coordination, analysis and monitoring of issues that are part of the Ibero-American Program of Industrial Property and Promotion of Development (IBEPI); attendance and participation in the IBEPI Intergovernmental Council meeting, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in the Communication Committee meeting of the same Program, held in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.
